The latest ad has gone viral. Big time. After watching it, women have become emotional and it’s allowed them, for those three minutes or so, to sit back and reflect on how they should learn to love themselves. Take a look :

What did I think of it? It was ‘tugging at your heart strings’ stuff. I loved the idea of using serious looking FBI trained forensic artist, Gil Zamora, to convey the whole idea of perceptions of beauty. The best bit was the culmination of the video. A crystal clear result. People see our best features and our beauty, whilst we as women are quick to see our flaws. One of the key moments was the way the man described the woman as having ‘very nice blue eyes’ and me agreeing with him as the woman he was describing, was shown her portraits. It was amazing to see how those portraits showed that we always see ourselves as imperfect and that leads to issues of low self-esteem and confidence. Reality is, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Others however, may feel that this ad is terrible.

I suppose the fact that Dove as a brand is not visible is a bit odd. But overall, it’s different. This different, gets a partial thumbs up from me.
